Latest Innovations...(0_0)

What is Innovation???

As outlined by Smith (2006, page 6) an innovative idea does not necessary need to be a brand new invention, an innovative idea can be how you adapt or use an invention to make your business better; “innovation involves exploiting inventions so that they can be traded in our market place… innovation is about bringing inventions out of the workshops and getting them ready for the market. Only when something new is available to consumers in the market or is being produced in a new way, has innovation occurred.”

Smith, D. (2006) Exploring Innovation, McGraw-Hill, Maidenhead, Berkshire

Why to Innovate???
Firms in the 20th century are always on the process to research and develop, to add value to the products and services that they offer to their customers, so as to CREATE sufficient COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE to allow them to stay in the relevant industries.

Innovation is indeed one of the most challenging aspects of evolution. It is mammoth and diverse. Companies like Google, Amazon.com, Wal-Mart, GE, McDonalds and Apple Inc are some of them...To make the topic more interesting!!!I would like you guys to Give Examples Of Companies And Their Most Recent Innovations!!!

Hey nice, topic to choose, I was thinking to copy and paste our previous chatting on yahoo which was in this issue as my comment!!! By the way briefly I feel it’s not that bad to mention the McDonald’s innovation strategy in the markets by the introduce of the franchising strategy to expand the business, or may be let me give you the Toyota’s “kaizen’ strategy or the continues improvement strategy which has practiced and has led to the efficiency and the market driven concept of this firm. Ok, that’s enough I better give the microphone to the rest to talk!!!!

Hey Murphy, check this out on how a camera can steal a key. “Scientists in California have developed a software algorithm that automatically creates a physical key based solely on a picture of one, regardless of angle or distance. The project, called Sneakey, was meant to warn people about the dangers of haphazardly placing keys in the open or posting images of them online.” Cool right? However, not a very good thing to do. Sometimes this is what innovation on technology can do to humankind.

Today, innovation is about much more than new products. It is about reinventing business processes and building entirely new markets that meet untapped customer needs. Most important, as the Internet and globalization widen the pool of new ideas, it's about selecting and executing the right ideas and bringing them to market in record time.

In the 1990s, innovation was about technology and control of quality and cost. Today, it's about taking corporate organizations built for efficiency and rewiring them for creativity and growth. For example in America there is a company name American well , they are a medical company thay see patients online to get more information about this you can goo to this website :(http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/category/innovations-and-ideas/)

Innovation is the lifeblood of any business. Be it a groundbreaking invention or an incremental change in process, innovation is about generating new ideas that will prevent a company from stagnation by giving its products and services a competitive edge. In today’s challenging economic environment, it may be tempting to scale back but it is actually more important than ever to innovate.

I think collectible card games combined with video games should be a strong combination, but the American market has random bouts of skepticism. Whereas the combination of ideas may result in some sort of synergy overseas, it seems to be considered double-dipping over here. It would be different if existing properties were produced in a manner to give people the option to use cards they're already purchasing with a new game. Imagine a new edition of Magic cards that all have barcodes on the sides and a reader released for a console so people can play online. Imagine HeroClix with some sort of chip or barcode on the bottom and circular reader that plugs into a console. These will sell because there's already a pre-existing fan base.

IDEO

You may not have heard about IDEO before but its good that now you can know a bit about IDEO and its inventions.

Nobody can accuse the Palo Alto -- based design firm of taking on easy clients in 2007. The CDC asked Ideo to help tackle childhood obesity; the Acumen Fund enlisted the shop to collaborate on delivering clean water in the developing world; and the Red Cross hired it to help encourage blood donations. "As social issues increasingly become business issues," says Ideo CEO Tim Brown, "this will be a critical new direction for design." Of course, there were awards too. The company's designs for the Eclipse 500 Very Light Jet cabin and cockpit instrument panel won IDEA Gold medals, as did its LCD monitor for Samsung. But it was Ideo's "Keep the Change" campaign for Bank of America that had perhaps the most impact. Based on research showing that boomer women with kids tend to round up their financial transactions, Ideo developed a service that rounds up debit card purchases to the nearest dollar, then transfers the monetary difference from the customer's checking account to her savings. In its first year, 2.5 million customers signed up.

Hey, Murphy looking for some new innovations here is one, Hate charging your cell phone every now and then? Well, a self-powering handset that never needs to be charged is on the anvil —

Thanks to the efforts of a researcher who has developed a new technology that could make self-powered devices a reality.

The self-powering cell phone won’t require its battery to be charged because it would convert sound waves produced by the user into the energy it needs to keep running.

Tahir Cagin, a professor in the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University has used materials called “piezoelectrics” to develop self-powered devices that do not require replaceable power supplies, such as batteries.

To be precise, Cagin and his partners from the University of Houston have found that a certain type of piezoelectric material when manufactured at a very small size — in this case, around 21 nanometers in thickness — can convert 100% energy. He said that when materials are made of a different size they show a significant decrease in their energy-converting capacity. His findings could have profound effects for low-powered devices such as mobiles and laptops.

Hi Murphy nice topic. Here you are asking some thing about the new invention..........
its good bro i want to tell u some thing about the Auto-Mower.

Keeping your garden in prime condition is no easy task, especially if you're getting on a bit and have trouble maintaining an attractive garden. Some enthusiasts take a great deal of time to maintain their garden, and take great pride in its appearance, so a device which achieves the same results, with much less effort must sound appealing. Well look no further, in terms of grass cutting, as the new solar-powered Auto-Mower is here to relieve you of the mundane task, freeing you up to focus on other tasks at hand. The robotic device will automatically keep your lawn trim and works entirely off of solar power to ensure zero emissions.

You can also program the Mower to create "islands" which represent flower beds, ponds etcetera. The Mower will navigate its way around these islands ensuring your flowers are not destroyed by this machine. There are safety features equipped, to prevent harm to small kids or pets also.
